Awards

Boys and Schools strives to promote contributions to the welfare of boys by introducing awards to individuals who have contributed significantly to the cause.

Al Burner

Al Burner, a doctor, lawyer and U.S. Air Force Colonel, was also a devoted husband and father who understood the value and importance of education for children, families and the future of our nation. This award is made in memory of Al through the generous support of his wife, Lee Burner.

The Al Burner Award

The Boys and Schools organization works hard to make a difference in the lives of boys, there are thousands of individuals working hard to help boys and make a change in their community. Not only do their efforts deserve recognition, but we hope that their example will be an inspiration to others. Thus, in memory of a steadfast supporter, medical doctor, and leader, we are proud to introduce the Al Burner Award, to regularly recognize the contributions of individuals who are doing important work to help boys succeed.

Jim Young

Jim Young, father of three, is the past General Counsel of Verizon and a tireless advocate for strengthening the skills and education of all Americans. Mr. Young is a member of the Board of Directors of the Men's Health Network.

The Jim Young Award

The Jim Young Award was created to honor the forward thinkers-organizations and individuals-that are breaking new ground in approaching difficult problems related to boys' health, education, and well-being. Whether they are finding fresh approaches to age-old issues or pursuing new avenues of research, these innovators continue to inspire us. Named in honor of a founding supporter of Boys and Schools, the Jim Young Award is our way of honoring those cutting-edge thinkers and organizations who are working to help boys.
