    The TN Coalition is excited to partner with Tennessee Tech University, Tennessee Tech Athletics and the Pittsburgh Action Against Rape (PAAR) to co-host a webinar about Coaching Boys into Men (CBIM). Jerry McMeekin, the Educator for Prevention Services at PAAR will lead this session. In addition to his work at PAAR, Jerry is a high school basketball coach and is currently implementing CBIM with his own team. He is very passionate about this program and believes that implementing this program will build skills in young male athletes to intervene in sexual violence, treat women and girls with respect and ultimately to end sexual violence.     The McHenry County Department of Health will offer prostate cancer screenings at no cost in February. The Prostate Specific Antigen blood test is being offered to men 50 years of age and older. No fasting is required. Based on guidelines from the American Urological Association and the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, men age 40 and older who are African American or have a higher risk due to family history can also be screened.

    This breast cancer summit is designed to unite, support, and empower 500 Black women around breast health. The event will be held at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center campus. During the summit, women will receive culturally tailored breast cancer information that can be shared with other Black women who are at-risk for breast cancer. Each registered participant will receive a range of personal care services, gratis refreshments (including breakfast and lunch), a gift bag filled with useful items for the women and/or their children, plus access to a variety of health care industry vendors.

    APHA has over 30,000 members world wide and is the oldest and most diverse organization of public health professionals in the world.

    Beebe Healthcare’s Population Health Department participates in community health fairs and provides community health screenings including: glucose, cholesterol, blood pressure, body mass index, bone density, and flu shots. Events are open to the public.

    These events will be held on a weekly and monthly basis throughout the Spring of 2015.
