MHN Minority and Underserved Prostate Fund

Men's Health Network is proud to partner with Aureon on a newly created fund: MHN Minority and Underserved Prostate Cancer Fund. September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month and Aureon has pledged to donate a portion of the proceeds generated from its prognostic tests ordered during this month to support the fund and help provide important prostate cancer information to underserved communities.

What will the fund do?

  • Provide important information to minority and underserved men and their familes so they can make informed decisions
  • Promote greater understanding of prostate cancer amongst men and their families
  • Encourage discussions about risk assessment
  • Support MHN's Healthy Sunday initiative

Why is this fund needed?

More than 220,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer each year, and many of them do not have access to the information they need. Within underserved communities, many men may not be aware of new technologies and tests that can help them make more informed decisions. This fund will enable us to quickly provide more information to the patients who need it most.

Can Aureon's tests help me?

Aureon has pledged to donate a portion of the proceeds for every Prostate Px and Post-Op Px test ordered during the month of September. If you have been diagnosed with prostate cancer, or recently had surgery, getting a personalized analysis of your disease and risk is a critical step in your decision process. Risk assessment is the critical step of determining the nature of each patient's disease. Prostate cancer can either present as a slow growing tumor, causing minimal harm, or a more aggressive type that can spread quickly. Physicians look at clinical and pathology features (PSA, Gleason score, clinical stage, etc.) to assess each patient's risk. Aureon's tests provide more information and a unique perspective about each patient's disease than other currently available methods.

About Aureon's Tests:

Prostate Px is a prognostic test developed to help patients who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer, but have not yet undergone treatment. Prostate Px utilizes biopsy tissue at diagnosis (no additional biopsies are necessary) to provide a personalized and comprehensive risk assessment for patients. Prostate Px helps identify which patients are high risk for disease progression. Aureon's tests provide objective information provided helping physicians and patients make more informed treatment decisions.

Post-Op Px is a prognostic test developed for patients who recently have had surgery for their prostate cancer. Post-Op Px provides a unique and detailed analysis of each patient's prostatectomy tissue to help better assess that patient's individual risk for cancer recurrence. Post-Op Px provides a new perspective on each patient's unique cancer, helping to eliminate anxiety and enable more informed adjuvant therapy decisions.
